Cardi B Explains Her Decision to Include “WAP” and “Up” in Her Upcoming Album

Cardi B is set to conclude her lengthy seven-year wait for a new album later this year, which is certainly noteworthy. However, the reaction has been somewhat divided. This mixed reception stems partly from the Bronx artist taking so long to produce her second album and a particular choice she made for its tracklist. Following her official announcement, reports quickly emerged that Cardi B planned to feature her major hits “WAP” and “Up.” If you check Spotify, you’ll find both tracks placed at the end of the album. With “WAP” now five years old and “Up” over four, many fans expressed frustration, especially since they’ve eagerly anticipated this release for a long time. Cardi B has acknowledged the feedback and recently shared her reasoning for including these tracks. In an audio snippet shared by Live Bitez, she stated that the fans, referred to as Bardi Gang, motivated her decision. “These motherf*ckers are just gonna have to be mad,” she said, emphasizing that her hit songs deserve a place on the album. “Sometimes people look in Invasion of Privacy for ‘WAP’ and ‘Up.'” She added, “My fans have requested that I add ‘WAP’ and ‘Up’ to my album, and I’m doing this for them. They deserve for me to heed their wishes… It’s Bardi Gang’s moment. To those who are upset, they can go cry about it. Wah, wah, wah, go f*cking cry about it. I cherish my fans… and they get what they want.” Despite her commitment to her fans, numerous comments still voiced skepticism. One user remarked, “No one told her that. She can’t write, hence the lack of new music. This is done.” Another expressed, “Don’t all artists do that? Nobody includes a six-year-old song on a new album. This is a desperate move.” Given this backlash, we can only anticipate the conversations that will arise once the album is released. Cardi B’s album, titled AM I THE DRAMA?, is set to launch on September 19.
