Maiya The Don described Skepta’s assertion that U.K. rappers surpass their U.S. counterparts as ‘delusional,’ but said she is willing to overlook it because he is ‘so fine.’ On July 7, the ‘Telfy’ artist shared her thoughts on the ongoing discussion. She tweeted, ‘Skepta [is] so fine I’m willing to ignore the fact that he’s delusional enough to believe any U.K. rapper is better than our best rappers in the U.S.’ This sparked a variety of responses, many users sided with her viewpoint, arguing that ‘he ain’t even better than our worst rappers.’ Nevertheless, Maiya defended Skepta, acknowledging his talent while questioning his statements. She later remarked, ‘This U.K. vs. U.S. rap conversation is so f**king stupid,’ emphasizing that while Central Cee is impressive, U.S. rappers have historically paved the way and defining trends. Over the weekend, Skepta sparked further interest by challenging ASAP Rocky to a ‘clash,’ which has yet to be accepted. Joyner Lucas responded to Skepta’s challenge, implying that he doesn’t value Skepta’s recognition of him, stating, ‘I didn’t do all the work I did just for Joyner Lucas to be saying my name anyhow.’
